Otero County Controlled Burns Online Reporting

This online procedure is authorized by and issued pursuant to Otero County 14-03

• Any person burning shall, prior to commencing and upon completion, to notify Tularosa Basin Regional Dispatch Authority.

•  Burning shall not commence until one hour after sunrise and must be completely extinguished no later than sunset and a call to the 911 center shall be made to confirm completion.

• Campfires are permitted regardless of the time of day. Shall only be burned in accordance with state law and regulations of the environmental department of the state of New Mexico, Title 20, Chapter2, Part 60.

• Buring of household waste (burn barrels) are prohibited under the New Mexico Environmental Department’s Air Quality Bureau, Title 20.2.60.110, Failure to comply could result into a Otero County Code Enforcement Violation.

• Fire Must be attended at all time

• Must thave a water source, or means of extinguishment be available at the area being burned.

Otero County Code Enforcement Online Reporting

For Otero County residences, if you live within Alamogordo city limits or Cloudcroft Village limits please visit their websites.

On the next business day, an online report will be sent to Code Enforcement and 911 Center, and a case number will be assigned for a call for service. In case of emergency, call 911 or for non-emergency, call 575-439-2612.
