The Internal Affairs segment of the Maywood Police Department seeks to ensure that investigations into allegations of employee misconduct are examined without prejudice or unnecessary delays. Our analysis of employees' conduct is governed in a manner conducive to bolstering public confidence, good order, discipline, and good management practices while recognizing the individual rights of each member of the agency. The term “investigation” means to determine if an internal or external complaint of an alleged act or the omission of a duty to act lodged against an employee(s) is in violation of department policy, procedure, rule, regulation, or applicable laws (local, state, or federal). An Investigation may or may not involve the use of an interview of the complainant for the purpose of determining whether or not misconduct exists, and which, if true, would likely result in a disciplinary action appealable under the grievance procedures set forth in the multitude of collective bargaining agreements between department employees and the Village of Maywood. However, anonymous complaints are welcomed and will be investigated with the same scrutiny as non-anonymous complaints.
